Best Time to come
The monsoon season (November and March).You can expect more rain and rough seas and most resorts are typically closed from end October through end-February.
Peak season is between July and August and prices rise accordingly. During off-peak times, rates are negotiable. You may need to book well in advance during peak time and also for public holidays and weekends.
Travel in February and March
For guest traveling on Februar or March, it is advisable to book earliest flight to Kota Bharu Airport(KBR) due to unpredictable weather and sea condition in the late afternoon.
Car Parking
If you come by car, there are many car park available nearby Kuala Besut at rate RM10.00 per day.
Visa
Many nationalities, including the citizens of most European countries, Australia, Canada, South Africa and the USA, do not require a visa to visit Malaysia.
Fee
Marine Park conservation charge RM5.00/adult & RM2.50/child that you have to pay before get The Perhentian Island (compulsory)
Currency
The Malaysian currency unit use MYR / RM ( Malaysian Ringgit). Please change into local currency ( Ringgit Malaysia ) before arriving at Kota Bahru Airport.
There is no forex exchange services available at Kuala Besut.

Cash
Bring plenty of cash to Islands. There are no ATM/bank on Perhentian Island. But some of the resort or chalet on Perhentian Island accept credit card.
Electricity
All resorts use their own generators, so some resorts/chalets served 24 hours electricity and some served 12 hours electricity. The connection is 220V, using a plug with three rectangular prongs similar to UK plugs.
Drinking Water
Tap water is safe for drinking in Malaysia, provided that it is boiled first. Bring a lot drinking water to island. Otherwise, you have to pay higher price here.
Boat
The boat transfer is subjected to weather conditions. Please make sure your sea transfer to Perhentian Island uses the official Jetty at Kuala Besut. All travel times can be changes at short notice, subject to weather condition and availability. Make sure you arrive at Kuala Besut well before 4pm (last boat to Perhentian departs around 5pm).
Water Taxi
While there are some trails around the island, the easiest way to go from beach to beach or island to island is by boat (boat taxi). Most resort/chalet owners provide this service (by 3rd party). And please ask safety jacket from the boat taxi operator especially for a long journey or night journey.
The fare will be double after 7pm.
Sunset / Sunrise
Coral Bay area is the best place to view sunset.
Teluk Dalam area is preferred for sunrise lovers.
Food
There is no eateries in Perhentian Besar Island except at resort itself.
Perhentian Kecil Island has more choice of eateries.
There is a few cafe and restaurant at Long Beach, Coral Bay or fishing village.
